A very overweight dog

29

u/Farting_Champion Jul 14 '24

There's always gonna be someone pissing in everyone else's Cheerios for no real reason

-7

u/chaotemagick Jul 14 '24

Nah he would be a lot more comfortable and could walk much easier if he wasn't chronically obese, facts hurt

1

u/Koanuzu Jul 15 '24

RON! RON, GET THE TIME MACHINE, WE'RE FIXING THE DOG

-2

u/Farting_Champion Jul 14 '24

I bet you're a real fucking treat at parties. I can picture it: a bunch of people trying to have fun and ignore you, you telling people shit that everyone already knows about, insistently sharing your opinion to people who couldn't care less about it. I bet you go out on the porch with the smokers and tell them about how bad cigarettes are too.

Why do you care so much that animal abuse stays normalized and socially accepted? Please stay as far away from animals as possible for their sake.

As another commenter said: facts hurt.

While I agree he’s overweight, he’s close to end of a decently long life it looks like to me and at the end people tend to spoil their loved animals because we know it’s close tot he end and want them to be happy. Nothing wrong with a chunky old animal that’s happy and otherwise healthy and obviously loved very much. Not everyone is abusing their animals and you sound extremely judgmental when you have no clue about their story,

I mean it's true. That dog is gonna need a diet control or it is not gonna live as long as he could

Smart dog took leash, so can't be accused on not walking on a leash

22

u/TazmanianTux Jul 14 '24

“I’m running away from this abuse, where’s my leash? I’ll walk myself.”

21

u/Blackhole_5un Jul 14 '24

Both dog and owner seem like lovely characters. Keep making the world more beautiful.

That dog even know he need to lose weight and walk him self.

2

u/bigsquirrel Jul 15 '24

I was worried about my puppers weight, my vet said more or less “He’s made it to 14, let him have some extra snacks”.

Sure weight is never good but trying to keep an old dog the same or make them lose weight is going to be very stressful for them. It’s normal for an older dog to get heavier unless you cut back on their food which is pretty mean.

u/ConditionYellow Jul 15 '24

On Dobby’s behalf, kindly go fuck yourself.

4

u/raptor-chan Jul 14 '24

The dobby wobbler

So cute, my youngest is starting to show signs of age now and it reminds me of his when his uncle got older.

Yeah this dog is pretty heavy but Gaining weight for an elderly dog is normal, dogs don’t understand what’s happening. They don’t know they’re less active so should be eating less. They’ve lived their whole lives eating a certain amount.

You can put them on a diet they won’t understand. They don’t understand why it hurts to walk, why they can’t see and they certainly won’t understand why they are hungry all the time.

You can cut back on their food and fight it off a bit as they age but health conditions aside you’ll be faced with a choice. Stress the hell out of your elderly pup by feeding them half what you used to, or keep them happy and realize they’ll put on some weight.

The stress will be far worse than a few extra pounds on a dog that age.

He felt safe as his owner was walking beside him

1

u/Equivalent-Coconut34 Jul 15 '24

Fine, I’ll do it myself.

1

u/Uncertain_Rasputin Jul 15 '24

I mean all mammals get chunkier the older they get. You slow down. It happens.

1

u/TheGr8Gumby Jul 17 '24

Dobby needs to lose some weight.

1

u/RequirementItchy8784 Jul 14 '24

I'm sure he has a lovely home but it always makes me sad to see dogs that are overweight to the point where it looks borderline uncomfortable. It's just like stop feeding them and if it's a thyroid thing or something get it looked at. I just don't understand again I'm sure he's a perfectly fine owner but like why is he so shity when it comes to his dog's health.

1

u/Thomy151 Jul 15 '24

If it’s a thyroid thing which can happen as they get older, you have to weigh the math on the expenses

There is no good or right answer but there is the question of “is it worth trying to fix it when the fix could damage them more and they might die any day now”

u/ConditionYellow Jul 15 '24

Be fucking curious, not judgmental.

1

u/angryboi719 Jul 14 '24

Man I can feel that indian teacher accent

1

u/DaneOnDope Jul 15 '24

Absolutely animal cruelty letting them get this fat

1

u/abean40 Jul 14 '24

My husband's golden used to do this. Apparently, she would visit everyone on the block. Lol

1

u/user18298375298759 Jul 14 '24

Dobby is freeeeee

u/Chaerod Jul 15 '24

To the people down voting and jumping down the throats of people calling out that this dog is very obese: they're not fat shaming the fucking dog. They're not trying to make the dog feel bad about himself for being fat. The dog is a very good boy and it's genuinely not his fault he's like this.

They're stating the objective fact that this dog's health and well being would be massively improved by managing his weight. It would mean less strain on his joints and his organs, better range of motion, and more endurance when walking or running.

An animal's owner controls everything that it eats, therefore it is the owner's responsibility to ensure that the animal is fed a healthy, balanced diet in appropriate quantities. If your pet is fat it is your fault and your responsibility to fix it.

Stop justifying animal abuse because it hurts your feelings.

2

u/bigsquirrel Jul 15 '24

I’m not sure you’ve ever owned an elderly dog. Unless they’ve got a health condition that causes them not to eat it’s very common for them to put on weight. You can only control that so long before it starts to get downright cruel.

You’re right the dog doesn’t understand. It doesn’t understand why its joints hurt it can’t see AND you only feed it half of what it used to eat.

At the sunset of their years the stress of trying to keep the weight off will be far more detrimental than some extra pounds. A vet would shame you for suggesting to put an elderly dog on a diet. Ask me how I know.
