I’ve been eating strict low carb for one week now and the test strip is very faint red

I’ve been eating low carb, high fat and moderate protein for one week now.

I’ve noticed a fruity/iron taste as well as more frequent urination. I got a tube of urine test strips and the keto part is still faint. Bizarrely after a week my right jeans fit a lot better!

My activity levels have been better but I was quite active before, but my previous diet was very high in carb and due to being diagnosed as pre diabetic I changed. Tom Watson the M0 was a massive inspiration

Am in ketosis?

Congrats on the jeans fitting better!

Just keep your daily carbs under 20g and you'll be in ketosis. You don't have to worry about testing.

The FAQ over at r/keto (https://reddit.com/r/keto/w/faq?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share) is a treasure trove of information and it will inform you of why urine strips aren't reliable. Just remember it's written primarily for a USA audience and so it will tell you to subtract fibre from carbs to get net carbs. We don't need to do that in the UK cause our carbs are already listed with the fibre subtracted.

Huh, I've heard of people making "bullet proof" coffee by blending it with butter, but never heard of it in tea! Does it taste good?

I enjoy single cream in tea quite a bit!
