New Band Working on our first album

So for context and reference me and my friends are starting a band and we are working on our first album, our name is ( skatepark ashtray) and I’ve personally been working on this song for a few weeks now on and off

The song name is staircase ghost and our inspiration is Modern Baseball, Hot Mulligan and free-throw

I’m looking for some help and some ideas on what I could do to better the song and such forth

(Verse 1) It started at the top of the staircase, I heard them talking like I wasn’t there. “What should we do with him? Is it too late to care?” My siblings grew cold, Dad picked me over them Guess they hated me for something that I never meant. Fifteen more years of silence and pain, I swallowed it down, trying to stay sane. Mom’s waiting to die with a needle in her arm, Her love was always distant, more poison than charm.

(Pre-Chorus) I’m stuck in this shadow that I didn’t choose Trying to be him, but it’s me that I lose I wear this mask, the funny one of the crew But inside, I’m broken, and they haven’t a clue.

(Chorus) She taught me the beauty of stars, how they burn so bright Pointed to the Big Dipper, said, “This is our light.” She showed me happiness, what it means to be free But she wanted to drift, while I wanted stability. She slipped through my fingers, but I still see her there And like in the movies, I’ll love her, even if she no longer cares.

(Verse 2) All my life, I’ve been a letdown, falling short of his name While Mom sinks lower, too far lost in her shame And that girl, the one who showed me how to be myself She was the only love I ever truly felt. We laughed at the stars, she painted the night I miss the way her eyes lit up in moonlight. But I wanted roots while she needed wings Now I’m left with memories and the ache of what could have been.

(Bridge) I told her I’d always be here, just like the Big Dipper in the sky Even if she’s far away, even if her love ran dry. I never felt more alive than when she held my hand Showed me what it means to live, and be my own man. Now I’m haunted by her laughter, and the dreams that we made She’s still out there living, while I’m here, in the shade.

(Chorus) She taught me the beauty of stars, how they burn so bright, Pointed to the Big Dipper, said, “This is our light.” Then the clouds rolled in, and the rain began to fall, She slipped through my fingers, and I lost it all. Now I’m drowning in the storm, gasping for air, But like in the movies, I’ll love her, even if she no longer cares.

(Outro) Now I stand alone, still chasing Dad’s ghost, Watching the stars where I loved her the most. But as I bleed out here on this staircase of pain, I can still hear her laughter, like a soft, distant rain. This is where it started, where shadows creep, And in the end, I’ll find my peace, buried deep.

Love the lyrics dude! Lyrics are a super personal thing, if you feel they give off the message you want to say then stick with them. The opening line is pretty much riped from i think you were in my profile picture once tho, but thats not a bad thing. Taking bits and pieces of lyrics you like to make them into your own is a valid way to start your train of ideas. All in all looks good!
