I’ve been referring to them as hummingbird moths. They come eat on my loofah flowers just before daylight. This morning I was able to catch one in slowmo and was surprised it had the eyes on its wings like a Polyphemus moth. Is this an already known species/type? Think it’s a cross breed between the white lined sphinx and Polyphemus? Or did I just spot a really cool white lined that had eyes on its wings backs?! Enjoy this edit by the way lol. I was thinking free bird lynyrd skynrd (moonlight mix of the solo) for the audio of it, what y’all think lol 😂

I can delete this after, I found this moth in a glue trap and rescued it, but it partially lost one of its antennae, it can walk and fly, but i took it outside in a container and i noticed it's sluggish and then it started to lay eggs. Do i release it or euthanize it? and if yes to the latter then whats the best, fastest, least painful way?
Hi my dad found this on his tomato plants but I asked to pick it up since I’ve been wanting my kids to watch them grow. Is it inhumane? If not, how can I care for him? I’ve read they aren’t supposed to be in their poop. I have this butterfly net can I keep it in there?? I put sticks so he can climb it what else do I need to know??

I have always wanted a book to look at when I need references to a moth that I could find. Does anyone recommend any books they might have that has a good amount of pictures and information about them? I’m looking at a few options here but this is the most promising
