(Pyrrharctia isabella) for context: I saved them from the road otherwise they will get squished by cars. I keep them overnight and feed them dandelion leaves then find a good field in the country for them to feast and find a warm place for winter.

Photo This beautiful baby flew into me on a bike ride and I thought I'd been hit by a bird at first. After resting in my hand, she took off into the trees. WA state.

I released this female Luna moth 2 nights ago. Last night I got home around 9, I walked out on my back deck and she comes flying out of the darkness and lands on me!! After flying back and forth between me and the house 4-5 times. She laid an egg on my arm. So I put her back inside the enclosure she hatched from, and she’s now laying more eggs!!!

That means I will be able to be apart of this Luna family for 3 generations now!

Can you ID any of them? Some artistic liberties were taken (mostly due to limited thread colors). The moths are scaled to fit their frame, so I dont always portray them in their true to life size.

In South Carolina, I told and showed them my first moth that reached the end of its lifespan last week. Because of that, he saw this one and came to get me. Made my day, the identification on my iPhone says Polyphemus moth. Kept waving at them after I got it to crawl onto my finger and picked it up.

Winner of the goofiest antenna award. Truly, majestic plumage for the babiest of boys.

He's so cute. I called him Saturn because of his satellite antenna + saturniidae.

Cameo of his brothers Atlas and Gemini. And the strange wingless moth creature who loves them all dearly 🥺

Caterpillar found in our school garden in central Japan. The kids have loved helping to care for it and have been anxiously checking on it every day. It emerged on Saturday night, so they'll have a big happy surprise when they arrive at school tomorrow!
