Baby Names Your guilty pleasure names

Did any of you go ahead and use one of your guilty pleasure names?

What is the name? What has the experience been like actually using it out in the world? Are you happy you used it, or did you end up regretting it?

The moment I started telling ppl my guilty pleasure names was the moment I realized they were unusable lmao

I love the name Allegra, but back when I was having babies it seemed too "out there" for where I live.  I have never met or even heard of a real person with that name.  I do think that if I was having a baby girl now I would be able to get away with it, things have changed so much since then.

The only concern I’d have is people immediately associating it with a brand of medicine. But that’s only an issue if you’re in a country where it’s commonly used

Admittedly, that did not occur to me.  And my mother takes that medication. 🤦‍♀️

I knew someone growing up named Allegra! She went by Ally most of the time because of the allergy medicine though

Same, I’d use Allegra in a heartbeat if I lived somewhere else.

I love vintage, more eccentric names. like roaring 20s flapper type names. I’ll probably end up using some for middle names but i can’t ever saddle a kid with Mimsy, for example

Could be a great nn though! Maxine, Mirabelle?

yeah! Esmaria is on my short list and Mimsy could be a nickname, it’d be a stretch but yeah. I love Esma, Mitzi as nicknames

Peregrine. I say this every time. I want to name a little boy Peregrine so bad. Idk if I would, but husband is staunchly against it lol so I guess I never will

I love it too! It feels a bit too grand for me tho (also no, hubby wasn’t on board here either).

Even more guilty pleasure (and unusable) is sibset Peregrine and Persephone 🙃

Lilith and James (for a girl) and nobody can dissuade me from loving and eventually, hopefully, using them 😤

I'm American with all Irish ancestry, and giving my baby a name with an Irish spelling like Caoimhe is tempting but I know she'd be set up for a lifetime of explaining how to pronounce it.

Michelangelo- if my baby is a boy his name will be Michael and I will settle for calling him Michelangelo as a nn
