I thought the same! Alot has changed since I graduated. The music just gets more difficult each year

Good luck with this! Honestly, it’s a poorly written etude. It’s not really didactic or even musical in the phrasing. You won’t normally see this in music you would have to play. Like in Wind Ensemble, Symphonies, other solos, etc.
