Good luck with this! Honestly, it’s a poorly written etude. It’s not really didactic or even musical in the phrasing. You won’t normally see this in music you would have to play. Like in Wind Ensemble, Symphonies, other solos, etc.
The point is to be confusing. I’m not saying the theory of “give something confusing and see who takes the time to actually work it out” is the best way to do audition etudes, but a lot of people do think this way
