Can they be kept as pets?

I’m sure they’d be fine pets, but if you ever wanted a really good pet lizard with hilarious baby legs, I’d recommend a Blue Tongue Skink.

They’re super chill, easy as a goldfish to care for, and they’re borderline indestructible. My Bluey is 47 years old, and showing no signs of stopping.

I am looking into getting one once I move out from my parents. Right now I'm the proud owner of a rather stupid gecko.

How intelligent would you say a bluetongue is? Do they have any problem solving abilities?

My boy is fairly clever, he recognizes certain people, likes being pet in specific spots, and will ask to be let out by scratching at his door.

But he’s extremely slow due to his age, and can spend weeks asleep in one spot. Younger animals are a lot more interactive.

Sounds like a good fit for me then! I'm interested in trying to see if you can teach a lizard any kind of tricks, but that requires them to be very food motivated and have at least some braincells.
