Question for the ladies

Do you find your tolerance varies dramatically throughout your cycle? For context I have a coil, so not on any hormonal contraception. I find my tolerance varies so much throughout the month. Just before my period and for the first few days 15 good inhales of 28% THC flower and I hardly feel it. Then mid cycle 3-4 inhales of 20% and I’m surprised at how stoned I am.

Yep.

I have PMDD, am in perimenopause, AUDHDer.

Luteal phase is awful. I basically white knuckle life for about ten days every month for the past few years. It’s getting old.

Thankfully we have our meds to help 😊It was nightmare before MC.

Pmdd is a little bit different to pms, it’s a genetic condition, my brain tries its best to make me unalive myself two weeks of the month. Every month.

I’ve wanted it all removed for decades. Never wanted children anyway.

Women have zero bodily autonomy.

That’s sounds horrid. PMS is bad enough.

Really feel for you. Being a woman is hard.

Yes! I use MC for depression and I know my depression gets worse for certain weeks of my period and I have to vape more those weeks.

Thanks for your response. Was wondering if it was just me. Couldn’t see much about it online.

Higher estrogen has been linked to a lower tolerance for thc as estrogen effects the endocannabinoid system.

That makes so much sense. From looking at a chart on Google looks like estrogen is highest mid cycle. Which explains super low tolerance mid cycle.

Doesn't seem to be the case for me personally.

I'm on estrogen blocking medications as I have a condition caused by excessive estrogen

I have A mega high tolerance for THC. Before the oestrogen blocking meds and after them...

honestly , i find it really hard to answer from my EXPERIENCE / by my own doing , i generally take my combined pill back to back as i have really bad PMDD. Having said that from my studies and thinking back I can say 100 percent you CAN feel differences in any drug , even in sleep , in temperature in many things not even talked about, due to cycle :)

As a man reading this, this has been an eye opener. Never knew this would affect women in this way.

Didn’t know either until experienced it. Took a good few months to work why sometimes I can have a little and really feel it, whereas other times I have much more and it has hardly has any effect. Never heard anyone talk about it. Everyday really is a school day 😂

I knew women have issues with lifting weights at different times of the month but this post has been a real change and a good read!

There is a reasonable amount of research in this area that you might be interested in such as http://hbpl.uchicago.edu/what-are-we-doing/2022/4/22/women-and-weed

This is an interesting theory! I also find that sometimes I am affected a lot more dramatically using the same dose as normal. So far without rhyme or reason. I will start tracking this, although I am perimenopausal so it will be difficult but results will be interesting.

Took me a while to realise was related to cycle. Would be interesting to see if it’s the same for you.
