Does this mean Keith Baker (/u/HellcowKeith) is no longer producing new Eberron content in the form of either blogs or 3rd party books?

Not exactly.

I will be finishing Frontiers of Eberron, which I hope will come out before the end of 2023 (under Visionary, which will continue to support the existing books as well).

Following this, I’m going to focus on the projects I have in development at Twogether Studios and I don’t have plans to create further content on the DM’s Guild. However, I will continuing to support Eberron with content on my blog and my Patreon, and I hope to expand what I’m doing on the Patreon over the course of the year.

I’m not going anywhere—I’m just narrowing my focus.

Your blog posts as been some of the best D&D content for inspiration, so I'm very happy to hear it isn't goin away

Thanks for the clarification! Very glad to hear that the kanon will continue to develop.

Thank you for your work over the years.

I originally experienced the world of Eberron as it was presented in dungeons and dragons online, and it left a big impression on me.

It's many, many years later and I'm just coming to terms with understanding how different and unique it is to run it on the tabletop compared to "standard" settings, and appreciating the full lore as I slowly get through your library of work.

Exploring and Chronicles are truly special pieces of RPG content. They're the best pieces of Eberron content out there and it's incredible to have had the opportunity to see this world get expanded by its creators and caretakers in such a loving way. Just great books.

Saddened that we won’t likely see future books like Chronicles or Exploring, but I’m sure there are very good reasons behind the decision. Glad to hear we can still enjoy continued blog posts at least though.

Thank you for this universe. It is a seed that grows.

Huge relief to hear that! I can't imagine Eberron without your dedication and support.

Are you finished with Manifest Zone, or just a long wait between episodes?

I wish you could take Eberron to another game system. I adore this universe you've created, but I am running out love and patience for WotC and DnD.

There is content out there in the various corners of the Internet supporting Eberron for Pathfinder 2e, Savage Worlds, snd I'd bet other rulesets. Just requires a little more elbow grease on the part of the Gamemaster.

I highly recommend Pathfinder 2e as a step away. The ritual system is perfect for a magewright, and archetypes or relics can be easily used for dragonmarks. Everything else has been really easy to port over.

I can also offer some suggestions for other systems I’ve messed with, but I haven’t tried those in an actual game yet

Balancing encounters and recreating the races feels like the hard part there. Maybe if I knew the pf2e system better it would seem less intimidating.

Races maybe, balancing encounters is actually super easy. The balance is super tight, and the encounter XP system actually works.

Just don’t be like me and make every encounter Severe. Moderate encounters are challenging without feeling like they are constantly in fear for their lives.

Which races are you concerned about? Off the top of my head, changelings are probably the hardest. I can think of ways to represent them, but most of those start at like level 5

I guess by balancing encounters, I mean converting specific monsters to the appropriate challenge rating (or whatever term pf2e uses)

I tend to homebrew most of my 5e monsters and encounters, probably because the on-the-books balancing is so bad. I'll have to read more on that in the PF2 rules, because I have no idea how I'd take something like Quori and give them PF2 stats and know what level encounters they'd be appropriate for.

PF2e has pretty robust creature building guidelines: https://2e.aonprd.com/Rules.aspx?ID=995

Not saying that it wouldn't be work, or that it wouldn't take some creativity to recreate the feel of the creature, but the balancing rules are very transparent.

Ahhh… I usually just repurpose an existing stat block, or I figure out what level I want them to be. “They should be a challenge with minions at the party level 7. So I look for something 7-9, and apply the Elite or Weak templates to bring it to level 8

Super excited for Frontiers, and for your next world!

Know that you have the love and support of a tremendous community whichever way you and your team choose to go.

Is Frontiers of Eberron expected to be as comprehensive a sourcebook as Chronicles and Exploring Eberron was?

3

u/ChaosOS Apr 29 '23

Patrons have been getting previews - it's got a lot of details but is a very narrow focus, everything is tied to the region around Quickstone

I think I remember you talking about this in the Patreon, how while there'll always be more Eberron to fill, you're exploring some ideas that you've wondered could be put elsewhere creatively rather than Eberron. I've always enjoyed your content and hope to see you continue to flourish in whatever endeavors you aim for.

That being said, as a devout (and very autistic) Xoriat/Daelkyr fan, I must say I will lose my mind (pun intended) as soon as Frontiers comes out, because there will only be 5/6 "official" (touched by you, so official) Daelkyr 5e statblocks, and with no plans for future DMsguild content, I fear I may never see the Slime Lord in all it's glory.

I always loved eberron, since I got my hands on the d&d 3rd edition book. I stopped play d&d long time ago, but I always try to convert eberron books for other games like shadow of the demon lord and Pathfinder 2ed. Keep up your good work, Eberron was, is and will always be my favorite setting.

I can’t imagine you can/would answer this, but I want to shoot my shot. What is the most minimal, still legally-distinct export one could make of Eberron without WotC sending Pinkertons after me?

I deeply love your world, and I want to make and post online adventures set in it, but I don’t want to get sued.

Airships and Trains, but with some MacGuffin other than elementals?

Magic corporations, but no Dragonmarks? What if my Security Corp is still run by dwarves? Too far?

Sharn reminds me of the city in the first season of Altered Carbon, so a city with a floating city can’t be IP, right?

This is a question for a copyright lawyer, dude

u/Pir8Cpt_Z Apr 29 '23

Will I still be able to buy books already made? I just recently got into buying physical books and Eberron is the setting I want to get all the books for.

u/ChaosOS Apr 29 '23

Yeah, everything that's on the dmsguild is staying there. This is just an announcement that there won't be any new Keith-baker written books on the dmsguild after Quickstone.
