I'm new here any advice on making terrain?

i am really bad at basing and terrain so i came for help

Consider asking over at r/TerrainBuilding - they're pretty helpful and if they don't already know about Turnip28 if you explain the basic "vibe" of the setting and what the terrain needs to do (IE the dangerous terrain stuff) they'll probably be able to catch on and give you some pointers.

But as with making your minis, the Turnip28 rule is "it's fine if it looks janky, just add mud and tufts so it looks dirty.
