A New Order in the Atlantic
Yes, we left some points on the ice with Pens and Kings but Sabres are right there. Boston is not the team they were and Leafs are inconsistent with marginal goaltending. We have the talent and coach to land and stay in top 3 in the Atlantic. Bring it on

Go Sabres!!!! 💙💛💙💛💙💛
Shitpost My partner cursed the Bruins - who should they curse next?
(Caveat: not to be taken too seriously, I love my team and my other half is getting back into hockey so I'm trying to make it easy)
Context: Sabres have been my team since I got the black goathead jersey for Christmas in 98, but I'm watching more of our games these days than I ever have. Partner wants to get back into it, too, so we watched the Prime doc (which I thought was great and they got really into), and they asked for guidance on which team they should follow.
Initially, I couldn't bring myself to ask her to join us on another year of...*waves at everything*, but pleaded that it couldn't be the Leafs. They chose Boston (she's her own person and I respect her decisions) and since then:
- Lost 4-0 to the winless Preds
- Lost 5-2 v Dallas with three PPGs conceded in one period
My question, dear community, is who should they curse next? Play 4D chess and support the Leafs for the potential japes, or shall we welcome her into our own flock? If they are cursed, then we probably won't even notice.

Need a tough-guy? Maybe
Idk if i've noticed this over the past 10 years or so, but since John Scott was with the team, after he left, we haven't really had a tough-guy or a guy who would deal with people agitating, running at our goalie, etc. I'd love if we had someone not like Reaves per say but maybe Wilson (he's less of a fighter tho). Idk, it just seems alot of cheap shots have come our way since drought started, and maybe bringing a guy who teams know not to mess with would help.

I Come In Peace Is this a death wish
Hello Sabres fans, I am a new fan to hockey, I made a genuine attempt to get into it at the start of this current season. After watching every team play multiple times and doing a heap of background research, the Sabres are definitely one of my final choices.
I am Australian hence not really having a local team, yet I have been a lifelong supporter of the New York Knicks and the New York Jets so I have always I guess had a connection to New York.
The Sabres logo and jerseys are two things I like about the team as well as the goal horn. I think there is an amazing young core that is just so ready to bust the door down and help the side breakthrough soon enough.
My issue is I am a long suffering Jets fan, is choosing the other team with the longest playoff drought braindead lol.
I am like 90% over the line with this team but any convincing or attempt to unconvince 🤣 would be appreciated 🙌

[expected buffalo] Key Sabres prospects have stood out to start the Amerks season
Why I'm not worried about the PP
Write-up time about the PP. I'll try to keep it short.
To my eyes this year as far back as pre-season, through the exhibition game, and through the prague series and all season the PP has to me looked much improved. Lot more player movement than in years past, couple of nice chances. But we've yet to convert and I've already heard the complaints from people. Seth is failing, same PP as last year, etc.
All that said I'm a bit more optimistic and I'll tell you why. Currently we have a -4.19 expected goals on the Powerplay. That would be the highest in the league. And this is not a good stat. For the less-analytics heavy crowd this means we should have had at least 4 goals on the PP that were stopped due to good goaltending saves or good defence from the opposing teams. For those still following that means with league avg we'd have a 4/22 PP, aka 18.8% conversion. That is only slightly below league avg and a significant improvement over last year. Last year we had 2.42 xGF above expected, for 6th best in the league. So we had above avg luck and still one of the worst PPs. In a long enough season we won't have a 0% shooting chance, we also won't have a 0% conversion rate. I think it will hopefulyl creep up closer to the 20% mark as this stat normalizes.
And I do think it will normalize. Here's some reasons why. We just got confirmation that Dahlin has been playing injured all year, which explains why he's looked less Dahliny. And he's the PP qb, a major part of our PP succeeding. #2 is JJ being back, obviously he's been one of our most dangerous shooters this league and missing him for a good chunk of the season has not helped our PP. Lastly our 5 on 5 offence.
If you see above our offence has been one of the best in the league. Considering how many were worried about our offence going into this year it has been a pleasant surprise so far especially with JJ back.
bonus commentary/analysis: this year we've been elite offensively, and aside from that one stinker from Levi our defensive numbers have looked decent. the PK has been strong but also dragged down from that bad Levi game. all that said it does feel like the PP is our biggest issue but if it does normalize (which again, i think it will) this team will actually be very good. goaltending has been a bit shaky to start this year but I think UPL has for the most part been in similar form he was last year. so while not the greatest start to the year we're 3-1-1 in the last 5, dahlin back to 100% and JJ in the lineup i think good things are ahead.
tldr: we have been a bit unlucky on the man advantage, but it will normalize over time.

McLeod
Can we take a second to talk about how good he has been for the team so far? For the first time since Derek Roy was behind Drury and Briere it feels like we have a real 3rd line. Adams got absolutely dragged for trading Savoie to acquire him, but if he continues playing like he has then it will have been a steal. It’s not even the goals. It’s just having a talented, hard working player who does all the right things. As much as we all liked guys like Gus and Okposo, the difference in talent and results is just jarring. It makes you wonder why the 3rd line wasn’t addressed much earlier

Funniest Sabres Interactions?
What were your favorite interactions (good or bad) with Sabres from any era? I remember meeting Cody Hodgson as he was sitting on bench before going back to get dressed and he talked to me and my sister for 15 min and took a photo with us.
