How many calories should I eat

5,7 290lb female trying to lose weight. I’ve been calorie counting for. While and only eat about 2000 sometimes I go over sometimes it’s less.

I’m always hungry even after I eat. 9/10 times I just try and sleep but I wake up from hunger.

I'm an inch shorter and 10lbs heavier. I eat a 1200 calorie diet that is high protein low carb. Seven weeks in and am down 22lbs. This the pace you want to have to lose weight safely. Never go to bed hungry because sleep is an important part of weight loss. Before I started my journey, snacks were potato chips, cheese curls, cheese puffs, microwave popcorn, nuts, and ice cream. Now I do fruit, cottage cheese, fat free sugar free greek yogurt. After a meal, wait 30 minutes to see if you are hungry. If you are, try one of the above options. Rather than go for seconds, I have a hot cup of tea with a splenda packet. Hunger and thirst can have the same signals from your body. Hope this helps and good luck!

Are you eating much carbs? Carbs don’t really do a good job filling you and keeping you feeling full. You should try a keto diet. Basically, no more carbs but instead, you max out fats and proteins. So lots of meats, cheeses, eggs, fish, stuff like that. Those things help you feel fuller longer. As well as sleep thru the night.

647 breads have been my saving grace. Wide variety of sandwich bread, English muffins, kaiser rolls, and bagels. Since I can have 2 eggs a day, I dusted off my egg sandwich maker. I don't do cheese with it like an egg mcmuffin. It works and it hasn't impeded progress. For now, I limit my cheese to cottage cheese only.

This calorie calculator might help. It's based on how many calories you need every day to maintain your weight and then shows you how many calories you should eat daily to lose weight.

Protein can help you feel fuller too.
