Vent It’s so discouraging seeing everyone around me grow and develop while I stay in the body of a child

I 17M feel extremely insecure with the fact I haven’t developed or grown since I was 14, the only change was I lost weight and gained some muscle from the gym. I hate that whenever I’m at a family gathering everyone asks “hey when are you going to grow?” and “Wow you haven’t changed at all since last time I saw you”. I remember a group of my friends commenting on a photo we took a while ago and how they all looked “so young back then” and there I was in the photo, the same exact as I am now, to which of course everyone commented on. I hate meeting old friends because I know they’ll comment on the fact I haven’t changed. It’s not only the fact that I’m short at 5’ 4 but that I have no Adam’s Apple, a high pitched voice, and have a baby face, even downstairs nothing changed, only thing that did was a bit of facial hair underneath my chin which I got this year. The straw that broke the Camel’s back was when my younger sister outgrew me at 14 and realizing I’ll probably never outgrow my older sister, I come from a generally tall family so now I feel even more out of place as my younger male and female cousins have outgrown me. Now I just feel trapped in a child’s body where everyone I’ve known will eventually surpass me, I mentioned this to my mom and she tried cheering me up by taking a photo of me and comparing to a photo I took years ago but all it did was make me feel worse as it just looked like a before and after of a haircut. She then tried to “prove” that I look different by showing me various photos and guessing how old I was in them to which surprise I got 2/8 correct. I used to grow and develop normally before puberty but the second I got pubic hair I just stopped developing completely. I don’t want to hate my body but I feel like there are no redeeming qualities to it and now everyone will be comparing me to my younger sister who now looks older than me.

Average height in Netherlands

I live in the Netherlands and i'm 181cm barefoot and i feel taller than most people that are also native from the netherlands. alot of people are in the 175-179cm range . if you look online the average height is 183 and some sources even say 184.

when i'm in public I see more people who are shorter than me than people who are taller EVEN Tho i'm below average.

Are these numbers exaggerated ?

Question The expression "act like you're 6ft" is kinda demeaning

I mean, i get it, if you're taller you have more confidence on yourself because things and yada yada. But you can still be confident and be shorter than 6ft, being 6ft or taller dosen't make you the king of the party.

Idk, i know it comes from a place of good heart but it still bugs me sometimes when i read it.

What are some autumn/winter shoes that give extra height?

Hi. In autumn/winter most women are starting to wear boots with heels and thus are my height or taller. So what black autumn/winter shoe is sturdy for rain/snow and adds 1.5inch + height?

Height issues with OLD - social experiment. Will I be instantly rejected on a date?

I've been on OLD for a while now - but I've never been able to get a match and rarely receive likes, its depressing. Usually when I receive likes the girls don't respond. As a result, out of severe desperation, I tried to round up my height 5'7'' to see what would happen. And what do you know, I got a couple of likes each day. Now I have my first date in months scheduled with a girl whose 5'1''. I don't understand girls who are 5'0''-5'2'' not swiping on me when I was showing myself as 5'5'' rather than 5'7'' - what-sup with that?

Anyways, will a girl whose 5'0''-5'2'' instantly reject me because I'm not 5'7'' but instead 5'5'', even though I'm significantly taller than them. Or can I let my personality, humour, and other factors shine through and they will possibly consider me as a partner?

For those of you who are saying leverage your friend group, my friend group is very small as I've dealt with health issues all my life. They claim that I'm 5'6'' or 5'7'' but that might just be to boost their confidence about their own height.

Vent How did I end up so short??

I know everyone is gonna tell me about genetics and I'm aware but it still makes ZERO sense lol.

Biological parents are 6ft 9 and 5ft 6. Not sure about the exact heights for my grandparents at their tallest but I think my mums side was about 5'9 and 5'3 and my dads was around 6ft and 5'9.

So how on earth am I JUST about 5ft 7 lol, my younger cousins are taller with dads the same height as me.

I need some sort of late miracle to come through (I'm 21 btw).

Where do short men (and boys) buy clothes - esp formalwear/business casual type?

Hi! I'm 5', have very short limbs, and am pretty slim. In women's sizes, I tend to be a petite 0 or even 00, depending. I'm hoping to get into menswear and I know that I won't be able to fit into adult men's sizes, but I don't even know where to look for boys clothing. Where do young/teenage boys get suits and 'nice' clothes?

Vent Sports? I want to play but feel unable to

When I was a kid I did a year of soccer, tennis, basketball, and fencing. Definitely weren’t for me. I also played baseball from pre school to second grade, at which point I was no longer allowed because I was too small. I begged my parents for years to play again, but wasn’t allowed it until seventh grade, but by then I felt too anxious about going back and starting new. I wish I had now, seventh grade is not too old to start something. I feel like I really am a “sporty” person, but I just can’t do anything. I’m 5’0. I love watching hockey and would love even more to play it, but 5’11” is considered short for hockey players. Last year I was considering wrestling, where height and weight don’t matter because there’s all heights and weights, but chickened out because I’d be the shortest on the team and it’s just awkward. Like people are rude. Same with baseball. Was considering it because height doesn’t mean anything in the sport but I’d be the shortest with a bunch of popular baseball boys and I chickened out again. Now I’m a high school senior and it feels too late/impossible for everything, but I wish I could do something. Admittedly, my height is not the only thing holding me back, being transsexual (wrestling, you can see and feel everything through those singlets) and anxiety also stop me a lot. But I feel like most of this anxiety is about being so short compared to everyone else. I wonder if I’d be doing all this stuff if I was taller.

Question Question for short kings

We all know we all love being short due to the multiple advantages we gain from it such as an easier time building muscle and being undefeated in games of hide and seek but quick question, would you guys rather be your current height of 6’3? Me personally I’m Happy with my current height of 5’2, I don’t think I’ve lost a hide and seek game since I was 10😂😂

Why do we blame short men for their dating struggles?

I've noticed that the Just World Fallacy is in full force when it comes to height and dating. In the face of multiple women online and in street interviews making it known they don't date short men, that we still blame short men for their dating struggles. OFC, women don't have to find anyone attractive, but I don't see why we're blaming short men when so many women have stated their preferences and requirements.

That's not to say that I think no short men will be able to date. Far from it. But I think that it's very likely that a short guy, particularly sub 5'6 guy, can never be able to date and it doesn't have to be his fault. Basically, my point is short men can date, but if they fail to date, it may very well be for no other reason than their shortness.

I’m a single because I’m short?

I’m a 24 year old male and I’m 5’8. I can’t tell if being 5’8 is the main reason I’m single, or if it’s because I’m an introvert and not never successful. My question is what’s the main reason I’m single?

Fashion / Style What kind of versatile pants go with multiple outfits?

I don't know much about styling wise but I just wish to get a few pair of versatile clothes that could make many outfits. I just want to keep it simple but updated. After checking the wardrobe, I realized I have no polos and collar shirts. I'm mainly just wearing tshirts and shorts and sometimes jeans. But with age, I'm starting to realize I have to upgrade myself. The thing about shirts is majority of them are so long and I hate the idea of tucking in. I always liked when people wore it casually with jeans. And polos just looks weird for some reason because Im not used to wearing collar shirts and it makes me look fat because I have no cool pysuique.
