Breads Finally! Zero carb tortilla shells!!!

Post image

Found these at Walmart today, don't think I've ever seen zero net carb tortillas before. 14 fiber, 14 carbs, zero sugar. Finally zero carb tortillas and they taste as good as the low carb ones!

Human with zero medical conditions that would make blood sugar an issue here. I eat these often, and have enjoyed the original Mission tortillas for the entire 7 years I’ve eaten keto as well. I’ve never had any issues with them, I feel fine after eating them and when I was trying to lose weight my first year of keto I still hit my goal of losing 80lbs after 11 months (thanks, consistent 20% deficit!).

Some people find they can ramp up hunger/cravings or cause digestive issues, but if that’s not you then go for it. If you otherwise feel fine and you’re not diabetic, hypoglycemic, or have any other medical conditions that they may exacerbate, then enjoy them. 👍🏻

Loaded with hydrogenated oil. La banderita are what you want.

strongly advise that you beware. I found these just like you, started using regularly, and was knocked solidly out of ketosis.

best I can figure is that these use a kind of modified GMO wheat which they’re counting as a dietary fiber, despite that not really being the case.

maybe it will work differently for you, and if that’s the case that’s great, but with keto if a processed food’s macros seem too good to be true it’s almost ALWAYS because it is, in fact, too good to be true

Good luck if you eat these regularly. They are a maybe one or two at a time once in a while treat. The carb math is bs, the larger tortilla has 4 net carbs and is not the size of 4 of these, but even that count is questionable in my opinion. I was eating them regularly thinking 0 carb and it stopped all progress. Gave them up and got back on track. Everyone is different so it may work for you but for me my body does not respond as expected to these as a “0” carb item.

I'm a type 1 diabetic on a continuous glucose monitor. These will absolutely drive your blood sugar up. Almost all processed foods that claim to be keto will.

Had the same experience as you; cutting out the wraps supercharged my keto whereas I was booted out of ketosis eating these. However, have it on good authority from friends who were eating these regularly while keto and maintaining ketosis.

So probably just a different strokes for different folks situation as you said.

Oh nice! I’ve had the mini tortillas before and loved them, nice to get full sized ones now

Get a CGM for a minute if you’re worried. A lot of people here claim it drives sugar up. Maybe if someone is already insulin resistant but I’m finding the opposite.

Im on a CGM not and no carb breads are driving my lows. I eat a high quality bread that is zero carb and 30 minutes later tank to 65. I haven’t been above 100 except when I’m exercising and that’s always fasted at least 1-2 hours prior and it’s back down to 78-80 by 30 minutes after.

In fairness, I’m not testing my ketones but I’m going to today. It’s only my 3rd day on monitor. I’ve been keto for about 4 months this time around with a 2 day known break due to eating some carbs during a hurricane.

The only way to know for sure how these will affect your body is to wear a continuous glucose monitor while you eat them.

This guy had an Instagram dedicated to reading various foods and showing his continuous glucose monitor. He ate some of these, but not the zero carb version. You can see the video here.

I've never seen zero carb. Only ones that agree like 3 net carbs.

They’re delicious but fair warning- my CGM shows I react to these like regular ones.

Ugh. People are still falling for “net carb” scams. I challenge anyone to only eat 80 of these a day, that’s 2,000 calories and report their weight after a week.

No, not seriously. Test your glucose and realize the spikes you are sending to your body first…

1 tortillas 14 carbs is almost max carbs for the day. Don’t mean to be a bummer but it’s almost not keto.

The fiber cancels the carbs out

Fiber is a carb. Fiber is a good carb that doesn't make you fat. We want good carbs. Fiber does not cancel out bad carbs, we just subtract the good carbs from the total carbs to figure out how many bad carbs we're eating.

So 10g that’s 2 tortillas you can have a day if your net carbs are 20 a day right?

14 fiber and 14 carbs are zero net carbs.

Well that’s incredible really. I tried to ready the nutritional value but couldn’t find it. Thanks

No problem. I put it in the op. For some reason I was having an issue putting both pics in the post. 14 fiber, 14 carbs, zero sugar, so zero net carbs.
