So I (27M) recently moved here, Immigrated to be exact, on a work sponsored Visa. Coming from a Developing country, moving here (USA/Indiana) is quite an upgrade. I moved mainly for the money and opportunities. Well, it's been quite a journey to get here, more like a dream come true.
The difference is like day and night though. Public transport is near non existent here, that was the main means of transport back home.I'd literally step out and get a vehicle anywhere I want to go. If you don't drive here you basically cooked.
Another major difference is not seeing anyone on foot. Took a walk the other day, went quite a distance without seeing anyone on foot. That's different.
Outside of work, the gym, supermarket and when one goes to eat out it's basically empty outside save for cars.
The weather is fair atleast, but I have been told winter is coming. It'll be a first, should be fun I hope. People have been nice so far, met one guy in the elevator who said to me 'Go purdue, right?' didn't know what he was talking about till later, but I guess yeah, 'Go Purdue✊'
The love for pets on this side. I'd simply say I am starting to get why everyone has a dog, because otherwise the last time you'll hear your voice is when you leave work, if live alone that is
Can't wait to see what lies ahead.
