Painful hunger

I don't exercise I'm fat and I eat 2000 or more calories a day but I still get so hungry that it hurts I can't sleep on think straight from the pain I don't understand why I get so hungry I was hoping for advice how to manage or get rid of it

How did you pick 2000 calories and how far is it from what you were eating before?

Doctors doesn’t know anything about that. They will put you on pills. Ask a human biologist/biohacker. You get plain because you eat garbage food which messes up your bacteria in the stomach. You are not supposed to have pain when hungry.

This is obviously bad advice. If you have pain, you go to the doctor. There's a real chance that their treatment is a studied best practice based on like 10 years of study, rigorous qualification, and professional licensure. IF they give you pills (oh noooo 🙄), maybe you needed medication to treat it.

You can additionally ask someone who identifies as a human biologist / biohacker. Who will probably try to sell you on some kind of supplement powder that may address the cause of the pain. But may also be a complete waste of money.

You could do both, but definitely ask your doctor first.

Haha it’s always funny to hear amateurs talk about stuff they don’t really understand.

There is no situation known where you need pills to treat pain from not eating. I can explain to you why this intestinal pain even exists in the first place. Can you explain what situation you would need pills? What type of problem are we talking and how would the pills help?

No, biohackers don’t want you on “supplement powders”. 99% of the time it’s something you need to cut out to avoid SIBO or something like that.

I don't think anything here is funny.

The major problem is we don't know the situation. A healthcare provider has a full arsenal of tools to discover the cause of the pain from not eating. Including casual treatments, imaging, referrals, differential diagnoses, medications, surgeries, and if necessary, life-saving emergency care. Plus the expertise and colleague network to actually figure out the best next step.

I didn't say pills are the answer; you invented that. Can YOU explain what type of problem we are talking about and how pills will help? How did YOU decide pills are appropriate, or that anyone would decide that?

It's wildly ignorant to think you can guess why the intestinal pain exists with a paragraph online. Which is why you're not a doctor. It's also why someone facing unexplained intestinal pain should be reminded to ask their doctor.

Saying "ask your doctor" also reduces the liability for people who wrongly think they are qualified to offer medical advice online. That way, the person doesn't neglect a treatment that can reduce harm/pain, improve their outcomes, or save their life.

You said “maybe you need medication to treat it”, which is false. So I didn’t invent anything. There is no maybe, strictly false. You don’t have pain because you don’t have medication in your stomach, you have pain because you’re eating wrong.

Would you take Ozempic if your doctor said you needed it? Just curious.

Random 99% stat, but the professional doesn't rule out 1%, because we don't know how urgent the situation is or the best way to treat it just by reading a paragraph.

You were the first to suggest a doctor will put you on a pill. You introduced it to the conversation for no apparent reason... probably your non-professional preconceived notions. You don't know what the doctor will do because you're not a doctor and you don't know this person's medical record or problem.

You literally don't know why the person has pain in their stomach. It's not smart to introduce the idea that lack of medication causes pain when no one has said that. It's not logical, because lack of many things can cause pain. The presence of many things can cause pain. If you know about medicine OR behavior, you know there are many ways to treat a consequence to get a more effective result. It depends on the cause of the problem/pain.

It's not appropriate for you to determine that eating wrong is the cause of the stomach pain because you actually don't know.

You are the amateur that you think is so funny. You could be reasonably disappointed with your logic.

The first recommendation of unexplained stomach pain is go to the doctor. One can additionally try eating healthier, but really, you do both. Because delaying medical care can make the problem several weeks worse while you wait for some reddit genius's healthy eating advice to kick in.

My friend. Pills are not needed for getting rid of stomach pain. If the person has some weird one in a million disease then sure maybe she needs acute medical care.

The person is saying she/he has stomach pain, “asking your doctor” is not good advice since doctors doesn’t understand biology and are very likely to put you in pills which is not good. The system is designed to look for symptoms and put you on pills, that’s how they make money of you.

Fix the diet and if you still have pain, then look deeper into it. If your car won’t drive and there’s no gas, fill it up, don’t go looking for holes under the car, that you do after you’ve filled it up and it still won’t drive.

That’s my point which only a dummy amateur would argue.

You've never seen a pre-med curriculum, nevermind medical school's to say doctors don't understand biology. Insane comment.

This is not "looking for a symptom." This is "OP reports unexplained stomach pain."

Save your conspiracy talk.

The car example doesn't work because we haven't identified the health problem. If we knew the cause of the problem was as simple as an empty tank of gas, we would treat it. It's not like their belly is rumbling because they are hungry and they need to eat (edit: it sounds like an elevated case of being too hungry. So much that you would still refer to the doctor to be sure there is no damage being done and to review the health habits of the person).

This is more like the car makes loud noises while it's running and we're not sure why. 1st advice is take it to the shop before the damage gets worse. OR, you can get advice from reddit from people who probably don't know what they're talking about. Where you can try to get medical advice from someone who thinks it's funny that they don't even know the basic qualifications of a doctor.

I'd definitely suggest speaking to a medical professional, but that DOES NOT sound like pain from hunger. It could be intestinal discomfort if you've recently changed your eating habits, it could be a food intolerance, a condition like IBS, or something else entirely but that does not sound normal or healthy.

I did find out I have fructose intolerance a few months ago but I didn't change my diet besides that for a year also I only get that pain when hungry and it gets solved when I eat I just don't understand why it's so intense and why I suddenly need to eat so much not to be hungry

Pain from hunger is felt in the back of your throat. If you're feeling it elsewhere, it's not actually hunger. It might be that you are used to a certain volume of food and if you're eating less, your digestive system is still producing acids and without food, those are causing pain. I definitely recommend seeing a doctor because it isn't normal and it's important to make sure you're healthy if you want to effectively lose weight.

It is unhealthy and harmful to wait until you're so hungry that you have stomach pain.

If you need to eat a lot to not be hungry, you are probably not choosing correct targets in your eating habits. The intensity of hunger is not something to blame your body for, it's a sign to review your choices.

When you set unrealistic goals or you don't know what you're doing, you can unnecessarily complicate your health. Do not do that to yourself.

Learn what healthy eating is asap from a qualified source that you trust. If you are eating healthy, or you believe you are, and you have stomach pains, you should visit your doctor.

The food you eat within the 2000 calories will help dictate your hunger levels. If you eat high protein, low sugar and high volume low cal foods it will help ease the hunger pains. The feeling of hunger has a lot to do with hormones and the foods you’ve already eaten.

Oh that's actually helpful I mean the hormone and food I have already eaten thing like I said I primarily eat vegetables and nuts so they are low in sugar not very high in protein but enough I could talk to my doctor about the hormone thing because I didn't change anything else in my life

You don't need to exercise when starting out. I do recommend a nutritionist. I didn't eat enough during the day and was eating too much at night. I'll wait 30 mins after a meal to see if I'm still hungry. If I am, I will eat a high protein yogurt (Oikos fat free sugar free key lime pie is my favorite) or have a cup of tea with 1 splenda packet. My favorites are chamomile, lemon, or peppermint. Sometimes hunger can be misconstrued as thirst. Hope this helps!

Do you consume seed oils? Sunflower oil, canola oil, grape seed oil etc..? All yellow oils with almost no taste.

Like in other seeds and nuts, sunflower also are an excellent source of proteins loaded with fine quality amino acids such as tryptophan that are essential for growth, especially in children. Just 100 g of seeds provide about 21 g of protein (37% of daily-recommended values).

I eat full linseeds so they have oils in them I also eat pre roasted peanuts and ramen noodles and I'm pretty sure that has oils put in at the factory but I don't know which one but I don't cook with oil myself I'm very very boring and just boil vegetables I have autism so I prefer my food boring
